Aap Se Mausiiquii Music Review: Aap Se Mausiiquii

There are huge expectations from the soundtrack of Aap Se Mausiiquii. After all, Himesh Reshammiya is returning with a full-fledged non-film album of his own and considering the fact that Aap Kaa Surroor (which had released a decade ago) was such a smash hit, one expects nothing less this time around as well. While that album had Sameer as the lyricist, this time around it is Manoj Muntashir who has been entrusted with the responsibility of putting together 10 tracks.

It is the sound of a piano followed by violin which kick-starts the proceedings for the title track Aap Se Mausiiquii. Himesh Reshammiya begins the song on a high pitch and with the kind of unplugged treatment that he lends to the song as a composer, you know that this one would linger in your mind for a really long time. Boasting of beautiful melody, this one is just the perfect beginning for the album.

The song that follows, Menu Kehn De, pretty much follows the mood that had been created right at the onset of the album. This time around, it is guitar that comes into play and the moment Himesh brings on the hook-line of 'Menu Kehn De', you know that it is the romantic mood that would set the tone for many more songs to follow in the album. This one is a winner too and deserves to be heard on a repeat mode.

However, there is a surprise immediately after as Himesh moves on from the lovey-dovey outing to a club scene. Though at the beginning it takes one some time to get used to the kind of sound that Himesh creates for Tonight, it is tough to look away as you listen to this one repeatedly. Himesh sings it in a manner he did a decade ago and it is interesting to see how he fuses Arabic and Bollywood music out there.

As for So Much In Love, it has a playful tune to it with an upbeat mood created right at the onset with the help of electric guitar. As the hook of 'So Much In Life' arrives right at the beginning, it is followed soon by the theme that had prevailed over 'Hukka Bar' . If you had liked that Akshay Kumar and Asin song, you would like this one as well, what with trademark Himesh mood coming into play as well.

On the other hand Couple Photo, immediately reminds one of 'Photocopy' which Himesh had put together for Jai Ho. Now if he would have actually reserved this one for next film of Salman Khan, rest assured the actor would have been glad to pick this one up. The song has Neha Kakkar joining Himesh behind the mike and is as filmy as it gets, courtesy Manoj's lyrics. Expect this one to play on next Navratri!

The moment Trippy begins, you are reminded of the sound that was heard in 'Manali Trance' <The Shaukeens>. In fact the lyrics here are truly crazy as Manoj Muntashir brings everything from Veer-Zaara to Bobby-Awaara into play. Yet again, just like 'Tonight', this one too takes time to grow on you but as is the case with a trance outing, this one too (with Neha as Himesh's partner) keeps playing in your mind.

What really impresses in a big way though is Every Night And Day which is as romantic a duet as one can expect in a film that has Himesh leading the show. This one has the kind of sound that would have been picked up by Akshay Kumar for a film of his had he laid hands on it first. What is remarkable is to hear Iulia Vantur sing this so very well in Hindi, which demonstrates an altogether different facet of hers.

Surprisingly, the best song of the album comes towards the end as Himesh takes his listeners to the folk sound of Punjab. One of the most soothing, pleasant and foot tapping songs of 2016, this one deserved to be present right at the top. A beautiful number that has a mix of Hindi and Punjabi lyrics, it slowly engulfs you and then makes you hear in admiration once it reaches the point 'Main Hoon Tera Mahiwal Soniye'.

You get an impression of a hip-hop song in the offering with the title going as Thuglife. However that is not really the case as this one with Akbar Sami pitching in too has a mix of 50s retro, contemporary rap and some traditional 'navratri' sound coming together. This one too has a filmy feel to it and Neha Kakkar makes good use of the platform provided to her where she goes on to sing some funkly lyrics by Manoj.

The album concludes with Teri Arziyaan and it is just the perfect finale for an album which had started with a soothing title track. If you had liked the kind of music that Himesh Reshammiya had put together for the film Ahista Ahista then you would certainly dig on to 'Teri Arziyaan' which has a beautiful sound to it. With just the right mix of traditional music and lyrics with some good singing by Himesh, this one wins too.

In a year that has been plagued by some real big disappointments when it comes to the music composed for some biggies, Aap Se Mausiiquii comes as a huge respite. As a matter of fact it turns out to be one of the most perfect non-film albums to have been put together ever since one can remember. 2016 is closing well with the sound of Aap Se Mausiiquii which is bound to play on well into 2017 as well. Bring it on!
