Gippy Grewal’s Manje Bistre 2 is one of the most-awaited films of the year and the multi-talented superstar revealed that he got the idea of the sequel to his 2017 blockbuster, Manje Bistre after attending a friend’s wedding in America.

When quizzed if he already had the idea of a sequel or he decided to make it after the mammoth success of the first edition, Grewal revealed, “I had no intentions to make a sequel, only when the film became such a big hit that we decided to turn it into a franchise. The first film was set in Punjab of the 90s and after its release, I attended a friend’s wedding in America and his wedding was done in true traditional Punjabi style. It was culturally rich and the functions happened over a period of 10-12 days. So, I thought why shouldn’t we set Manje Bistre 2 overseas. Our film has been shot in Vancouver, Canada and it was made thinking that how would Punjabi people, who have some money, get married abroad and what all they can do there in true Punjabi style.”

Directed by Baljit Singh Deo, the film also stars Simi Chahal, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, BN Sharma, Sardar Sohi and Hobby Dhaliwal alongside Gippy Grewal. Written and produced by Gippy, the film is slated to release on April 12.
