Last Diwali arrived Golmaal Again which was a Blockbuster horror comedy. The Rohit Shetty multi-starrer was a huge success at the Box Office and brought in a new dimension to the franchise’s out and out comic genre as the horror angle came in as well. Ajay Devgn and team were a riot on screen and audiences grabbed the film with both hands to make it ultra successful.

Now six months down the line, Nanu Ki Jaanu is arriving and this too is an out and out comedy with a horror angle to it.

“There aren’t too many horror comedies that come out of Bollywood,” comments a film enthusiast, “It is still an unexplored genre as it is quite tricky. In any case, so many out and out Bollywood horror films also turn out to be unintentional comedies. Hence when you design a film as a horror comedy itself, it becomes all the more challenging. The film needs to make you laugh for all the right reasons.”

Hence when director Faraz Haider picked up the core idea of Nanu Ki Jaanu, where a ghost enters Abhay Deol’s house and turns his life upside down (well, in many cases, literally), the core team of Abhay Deol, Manu Rishi and Patralekha were excited to be on board this crazy ride.

“In last couple of years or so, the other horror comedies have been Great Grand Masti and Tutak Tutak Tutiya, none of which were successful at the Box Office. Former lost its zing after censor troubles and latter failed due to awareness problem. In case of Nanu Ki Jaanu though, the makers were sure that first and foremost the film was a clean family entertainer with no double entendre. Secondly, the promotion and marketing was kept apt too so that target audiences were actually aware about its release this Friday,” informs our source.

One now looks forward to how this awareness translates to footfalls when the film hits the screens in a few hours from now.
