70th National Film Awards

The winners for the prestigious 70th National Film Awards are being announced today by the respected jury members. Established in 1954, the National Film Awards have been administered by the Indian government's Directorate of Film Festivals since 1973.

Let's have a look at the major winners:

Malayalam suspense thriller chamber drama Aattam has been awarded as the best feature film in the 70th National Awards. This Anand Ekarshi flick stars an ensemble cast of Vinay Forrt, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Zarin Shihab, Aji Thiruvamkulam, Jolly Antony, Madan Babu K, Nandhan Unni, Prasanth Madhavan, Sanosh Murali, Santhosh Piravom, Selvaraj Raghavan VR, Sijin Sijeesh, and Sudheer Babu. Taking the idea from Hollywood's masterpiece "12 Angry Men," Aatam is about men's morality towards a sensitive topic like molestation.

Kantara fame Rishab Shetty has won the best actor award, and this was very much expected. Many people have been saying in their reviews that Rishab deserves a national award for his performance, and finally it has come true.

Nithya Menon, who played an unsung romantic heroine in Mithram Jawahar's super new-age romantic drama, Thiruchitrambalam, won the best actress award for her beautiful performance.

Manasi Parekh has also been recognised as the Best Actress for her performance in the Gujrati film Kutch Express. The film has also won the Best Feature Film award for promoting national, social, and environmental values.

For Bollywood, there is good news as Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra (2022), starring Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Alia Bhatt, won the Best Film in AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comic). Brahmastra won another award for the best playback singer for Kesariya (Arijit Singh). Pritam bagged the award for best music for the same film.

Manoj Bajpayee and Sharmila Tagore's Gulmohar won Best Hindi Film at the 70th National Film Awards.
