Baby John Exclusive footage at Cine Expo: Varun Dhawan in his massiest role to date

Varun Dhawan is ready to get into a massy zone this Christmas with his upcoming action flick, Baby John. Directed by Kalees, the film also stars Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, and Jackie Shroff. The exclusive footage from the film was screened at the Big Cine Expo 2024 in Mumbai. Here's our look at it.

This exclusive promo of Baby John loaded with action and was less on dialogues. The background score was on the high side and sounded thunderous. Varun Dhawan was seen in two different looks—one as a cop with short hair, which was a sophisticated look, and the second was with long hair as he dons lungi and gets into a South Zone to battle the deadly goons. A cute but slightly childish flirting scene with the heroine in Bus felt decent as she expresses having "feelings" for him and "Okayed" it several times.

The story about the title, Baby John, is simple but interesting. In the second role, Varun is a single father, and his daughter calls him "Baby." Hence the title, I guess. When she is surrounded by goons, she shouts "Baby...." and then Varun makes a massy entry and smashes all those goons. One of the major highlights was the background score, which was constantly there, sounding thunderous.

The producer and presenter of the film, Atlee, was present at the screening along with his wife, Priya Atlee. He said, "Baby John is an official adaptation of Theri, but we have made changes here. Our film mainly talks about a sensitive issue (women's safety/rape). This is my first Hindi film as a producer, so my main focus is single-screen audiences."

Baby John is directed by Kalees and produced by Jio Studios, Cine1 Studios, and A for Apple Productions. The film will also see superstar Salman Khan making a special appearance. Interestingly, it will be released in cinemas on Christmas Weekend, right before Salman's birthday.
