Shikhar Dhawan announces retirement:
Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, also known as the Gabbar of cricket, has called it a day. The dashing cricketer has announced his retirement from domestic and international cricket. He took to his social media handle to share a video and announce his retirement. Watch it below:
Dhawan had a career spanning over a decade, starting in 2010. He was mainly an opening batsman in ODI, Test cricket, and T20 formats for India, and Rohit Sharma was his partner on the other end of most days.
Announcing his retirement, Dhawan got a little emotional in the video. He said, "Representing my country on the international stage has been an incredible honour for me in my cricket journey, and wearing the Indian jersey will always hold a special place in my heart. I am deeply grateful and thankful to everyone who has been my backbone in this beautiful experience—my family, relatives and friends, teammates, coaches, and, most importantly, a very big thanks to the loving fans who have been an incredible part of my journey and my life."
Speaking of some glorious records, he was awarded the 'Player of the Tournament' for his great form in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, which helped India win the tournament. In the same year, on his test debut, he scored a record 187 runs against Australia, which is the highest score by an Indian on a test debut to date. Dhawan remained the leading run scorer for India at the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
We, at Movie Talkies, wish Dhawan a great future ahead. Stay tuned with us for more updates.
