Tumbbad Re-Release Opens Bigger Than The Buckingham Murders 3X Than OG

Tumbbad Re-release opening day collection: 

Tumbbad, a horror masterpiece that has gained cult status in the last 5 years, saw a decent re-release on limited screens on Friday, September 13, 2024. The film has opened to a good response in multiplexes, as the advances in ticket sales had already suggested a respectable opening.

Tumbbad collected approx. 1.50 crore nett opening day in its re-release, which is 3 times higher than its opening day during the original release. Tumbbad had collected Rs. 51 Lacs on its first day in 2018, and now the re-release numbers are at 3 times that number.

The horror classic has also managed to defeat the new Bollywood release despite fewer screens and lower ticket rates. Kareena Kapoor's The Buckingham Murders was the only decent Bollywood release this Friday, and Tumbbad has beaten the opening day numbers of this film by a good margin.

The Buckingham Murders opened at around 1-1.10 crore with regular ticket prices, whereas Tumbbad surpassed by almost 50% margins with lower ticket rates and lesser screens. It will be interesting to see if Tumbbad can manage to go past the 20 crore nett mark in its re-run, while The Buckingham Murders will fall behind by a 2-times margin, as indicated by the opening day figures, or will there be any twist?
