Tumbbad Re-Release vs. The Buckingham Murders box office:

Tumbbad re-release seems to be scripting a success story and is sure to surpass the numbers of the original release in 2018. The film collected approx. 7 crore nett in the opening weekend, becoming the second biggest film of the weekend behind Stree 2.

Tumbbad has also managed to overtake the business of the new Friday release, The Buckingham Murders, by a fair margin. This was very much expected since Tumbbad has gained cult status in the last 5 years and people have been demanding the re-release, and the dull box office phase has helped the film to bring a respectable total.

Friday - 1.50 crore nett

Saturday - 2.50 crore nett

Sunday - 3 crore nett

Total - 7 crore nett approx.

On the other hand, The Buckingham Murders had a low weekend, expectedly. The current phase of Bollywood has clearly indicated that niche genre movies aren't made for the box office windows, and only big event films are working. The Kareena Kapoor starrer failed to bring audiences to cinemas, and the opening weekend numbers have sealed the fate of the film.
