Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Review - Marvel's Biggest Crowd-Pleaser Entertainer Since Spider-Man: No Way Home

The GOTG gang is back with a bang in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It's been 7 years since we got a solo MCU flick from the GOTG gang. Now I can say that GOTG Vol. 3 is worth the wait. They have made us crave a GOTG film since Infinity War, Endgame, and No Way Home took over the franchise values, and now they have given us a near-perfect GOTG film. MCU's last banger at the movies was Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), and after that, we had to go through several mediocrities and underwhelming flicks. With GOTG 3, that old blockbuster Marvel experience is back. In MCU Phase 1 and Phase 2, we used to have one or two films annually, but by the time we got to MCU Phase 4 and Phase 5, there was too much content to consume. MCU started giving us 3-4 films in a year and 3-4 TV series (longer format), so somewhere people started getting bored, and naturally the resources kept decreasing. We have been through all the possible theories, and there is nothing new left. GOTG 3 has suddenly woken me up from the sleep I was having during this dull period of the MCU. It's a blockbuster and entertaining experience at the movies, but more than that, it's an emotional extravaganza that lifts the film a level up.publive-image

GOGT 3 starts with Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) attacking the Guardians, leaving Rocket (Bradley Cooper) injured. The guardians, Star Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Groot (Vin Diesel), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff), then enter an Orgosphere, with the Ravagers and Old Gamora's (Zoe Saldaña) assistance, to retrieve Rocket's file in order to find a cure and save his life. They barely escape with the file, with Drax and Nebula suffering injuries, but are unable to open it. They track down Theel, one of the High Evolutionary's scientists, figuring he has the passcode stored in memory. The film travels back in time to reveal the story of Rocket's past life and why High Revolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) wants to capture him. Will the Gaurdians be able to save Rocket and other creatures left in danger by the High Revolutionary?publive-image

GOTG 3 is one of the finest and most engrossing stories to come in recent times from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The biggest USP of the script is giving a heroic gesture to Rocket, perhaps the smallest and weakest-looking member of the Gaurdians team. There's a lot to enjoy, a lot to cry, and a lot to take home this time, and that's a rarity nowadays. The backstory of Rocket is indeed lovable, as it is told from an emotional point of view. Those are all creatures, not humans, and that's why you feel them. The sentimental connect is so strong that sometimes you forget for what reason those tears came out. Happiness or sadness. The film has both: tears of joy and tears of pain. It's been a while since we got those screams and hoots in the auditorium for the assembly of superheroes. The last two scenes I remember were Endgame's climax and No Way Home's meet and greet of Spideys. GOTG 3 gives you not just one, not two, but about five to six such scenes where you can't resist making noise and whistling with excitement. GOTG 3 also takes good care of comedy and humour, which have earned them a traditional fan following. The screenplay is a bit slow in the first half, but the second half is so superbly engaging that you forget what went wrong in the first half. The last hour is what you call "Blockbuster Entertainment"!publive-image

The performances of the cast uplift your viewing experience, as every actor lives up to the expectations. Although it is not a performance-oriented film, all you expect from an actor is to live the character as it should be lived. Chris Patt is charming as Peter and gets one or two scenes to explore the charm of the character. Bradley Cooper as Rocket (voice over) steals the show, while Bautista is stupidly amazing. Pom Klementieff and Karen Gillan have had to do a lot more than expected, and both have been fantastic. Sean Gunn is a new face, but you'll shout for him when you see Yondu's cameo. I don't see any reasons for Zoe Saldaña's preachy romance, and that's too cliche. But the new version and new look of the actress are not as bad as they were written.  continues humming "I am Groot," and the new antagonist by Chukwudi Iwuji will somewhat remind you of Kang from Ant-Man 3. The supporting cast is pretty good.publive-image

GOTG Vol. 3 is a visually appealing film just like all Marvel films, but what I liked the most about its visuals is that this one takes you to unknown and unseen planets full of obscene looking creatures and monsters, which are cute. I wish I'd seen it in 3D, as the entire last hour had so many explosive scenes that I would have enjoyed watching with the glasses on. The cinematography and background score deliver expected results, whereas a special mention should go to the foot-tapping songs used in between that make you groove. James Gunn directs the GOGT film for the 3rd consecutive time, giving a perfect and fulfilling end to the Gaurdians' series. But wait, it's not the end. "Star-Lord will be back". Marvel has had plenty of naps since No Way Home, as James Gunn puts a new breath and new life into Phase 5. Gunn has indeed raised the bar. GOTG series has been special for some reasons, and James Gunn deserves credit for that. As a whole, Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 3 is a power-packed entertainer with a super strong emotional touch. It shall emerge as the MCU's biggest triumph since Spider-Man: No Way Home, and quite possibly the biggest in the GOTG saga too.
