Yeh Meri Family Season 3 Review - TVF Continues To Bring 90s Magic Back Again

Yeh Meri Family Season 3 Review: TVF's Yeh Meri Family Season 3 is nothing short of a nostalgic journey, just like the previous two seasons. This one is set in 1998, somewhere around the spring season, taking us back to radio days with the opening scene commentary about Sachin Tendulkar smashing Aussies in Sharjah and the PM visiting foreign countries. TVF spreads the same magic again by exploring more details about a regular middle-class family, whom we all relate to. There are a total of 5 episodes, ultimately each focusing on one character, giving us a detailed look at relationships, bonding, family values, and life- lessons for all ages. Bringing three generations together under one roof is the best thing TVF has done with Yeh Meri Family, which basically helps it explore diverse characters and their issues.publive-imageThe 5 episodes in Yeh Meri Family Season 3 include 5 chapters as follows: Same Pinch, Holi, Tit For Tat, Happy Birthday, and Moonch. Same Pinch is the sweetest love story in recent times, as we see 10th-grade student Rishi (Anngad Maaholay) having a crush on his neighbour, who has come to the town for 3 days. This one is a very relatable story for any 80s or 90s kid, and let me tell you, I have seen such things happening around me. I am the eyewitness.publive-imageThe second episode is about Holi. Yes, yes, I know the memories are still fresh because it hasn't even been a fortnight since we played Holi this year. Well, this specific Holi in YMF is about one strict decision that must be taken but can't be followed quietly because when it's Holi, nobody can keep calm. Then there is the third episode, Tit for Tat, which takes us back to those morbid memories of school-time bullying. Happy Birthday serves as the fourth episode, which I believe has the best storyline out of all the episodes in this season. The conflict between three generations and why their thinking doesn't match. What a wonderful thought, and what a fantastic execution!publive-imageThe last one is about the old issue of what kids should pursue at this age and why parents shouldn't force any hobbies or activities on them. All five episodes are well-written, well-explored, well-defined, and well-crafted. This is what 90s magic means, and let's carry TVF on our shoulders and shout their name loudly for bringing those golden memories back. Those 200 minutes are well spent; no complaints. It has a nice screenplay that doesn't bore you. Usually it happens in Bollywood that the writer has a small thought—a good one, I mean—but then it is stretched to no context zone just to make a 2-hour movie out of it. Why not make it a 30-minute short episode? That's what Yeh Meri Family does. It separates 5 stories into 5 episodes, giving us the feel of watching 5 short stories instead of one big, boring movie.publive-imageThe performances of all cast members are so natural that they actually look like those characters now. They have become habitual with those characters, and we have become habitual with them. That's a good love story between us, and I hope you all accepted the proposal long ago. Anngad Maaholay has improved a lot. He sounded like a mature, senior actor this time. Hetal Gada's cuteness and teenage kindness win you again. Veena Mehta is a perfect Dadi, and Juhi Parmar suits the "Kiran Bedi" image even better this time. Rajesh Kumar is exceptional as the head (presumably) of the family yet again. The songs are mesmerising, and the cinematography was good. Rahib Siddiqui has handled the subject very carefully, without harming the 90s charm and delicacy. Using several references from the future was a masterstroke, I believe. "Sabka badla lega," "Sachin centuries ki century marega," "Landline ki jagah handline"—all these things were so cute and so real, just like the entire season of the Yeh Meri Family. Then why wait? Let's tune into Yeh Meri Family Season 3 now. Let these today's delusional social media kids know what the real world and real fun meant back in time.
