Superstar Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer blockbuster hit Sultan completes 6 years of its release today. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Yash Raj Films, the film was released on the occasion of Eid and smashed several box office records at the time of its release.On the sixth anniversary of the film, here's our look at the box office records smashed by the Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer.
• Sultan earned 36.54 crore nett on the first day, 37.32 crore on the second day, and 31.67 crore on the third day, for a record breaking weekend total (Hindi) of 105.53 crore nett.
• The film earned 36.62 crore on its fourth day and 38.21 crore on its fifth day (Sunday), making it the first Bollywood film to earn 30 crore or more on five consecutive days.
• It was also the Bollywood film to register 35 crore+ total for 4 days in its opening weekend.
• Sultan was the fastest Bollywood film to cross 150 crore mark (in 5 days) as well the fastest Bollywood film to cross 200 crore nett mark (in 7 days).
• Sultan's first week total was staggering at 229 crore nett, setting yet another record.
• Sultan surpassed 300 crore nett in India, making Salman Khan the first Bollywood actor to have two 300 crore nett grossers (after Bajrangi Bhaijaan), and Anushka Sharma the first Bollywood actress to do so twice (her first being PK).
• The worldwide opening weekend of Sultan was 210 crore, which is still unbeaten by any Bollywood film.
• The worldwide opening week of Sultan (395 crore) is also unbeaten by any Bollywood film till date.
