Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 (Hindi) is looking to beat Jawan's opening day

Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil's Pushpa 2: The Rule is set to be released tomorrow worldwide. The Hindi version of the film has taken a fantastic start in advance sales and is now eyeing Jawan's opening day record with the help of spot bookings in mass centres.

Pushpa 2 is certainly far behind Jawan's numbers in advance sales in national chains since the film caters more to the mass audience than multiplexes, but still, the numbers in national chains (PVR Inox and Cinepolis) will be among the top 10 or possibly in the top 5. Currently, the film is closing in on 300,000 ticket sales in the national chains with 9-10 hours still left for the day.

The final numbers will be anywhere between 350,000-400,000, which is in the same range as Stree 2—this year's biggest opener in the Hindi market on the national holiday. However, the release size of Pushpa 2 is far larger than Stree 2, which makes the 60 crore nett mark very much possible even on a non-holiday release day.

Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan smashed the opening day record last year in September and registered the first-ever 60 crore nett+ total on opening day. Pushpa 2 is likely to beat that record if the spot bookings see good footfalls, just like Gadar 2. At this moment, the 60 crore nett figure is within range, needing an extra 4-5 crore nett to beat the record of Jawan (63.87 crore nett), which is possible due to high ticket prices. Overall, we are set for a bumper opening in the worst case, but a few new records are always welcome. Also, the south is also doing well and will see huge numbers coming in on day one.
