Angelina Jolie's Aunt Succumbs To Breast Cancer

Hollywood hottie Angelina Jolie, who recently underwent a double mastectomy to decrease the risk of breast cancer, lost her aunt Debbie Martin to breast cancer.

Martin died at age 61 at a hospital in Palomar Hospital Escondido, California, near San Diego. According to her husband, Debbie Martin had the same defective BRCA1 gene that Jolie does, but didn't know it until after her 2004 cancer diagnosis. He also added, that after getting breast cancer, Debbie Martin had her ovaries removed preemptively as she was also at very high genetic risk for ovarian cancer, which has killed several women in her family.

The Gia actress had announced earlier this month that she chose to undergo surgery to minimize the risk she might develop breast cancer due to the inheritance of a faulty gene.
