Baby John Taster Cut:
Baby John's new promo, Taster Cut, is currently playing in cinema halls with Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and will be launched digitally on November 4th. We have seen the taster cut on the big screen, and it definitely looks promising.
Based on Atlee's Theri, Baby John sees Varun Dhawan in the lead role. As you all know, he has two different looks. One as a cop with short hair and one as a South Indian fella, wearing a lungi and having long hair. The second one looks more massy, I feel. The earlier look had to be sophisticated since he was playing a cop, but that dialogue, "Me pehli baar aaya hu," was really mid.

Speaking of pluses, Varun Dhawan finally seems to be getting into a proper mass zone after lowly appealing mediocrities like Jug Jugg Jeeyo, Bawaal, and Citadel: Honey Bunny. Bhediya was massy, but it was a failure of director Amar Kaushik, not VD. BJ shall prove out to be that mass film that will widen his appeal to the core masses. Those long hairs, adrenaline action, heart-thumping background score by S Thaman, and Kalees' stylish framework—everything promises a mass hysteria. Baby John shall also become Varun's biggest opener ever and probably the biggest organic opening for any new generation star (from his lot), beating Tiger Shroff's Baaghi 2. With a moderate budget, this looks very safe for Christmas unless something goes terribly wrong. But at the moment, Baby John is the most promising mass film of the year (since Singham Again has also turned out to be an average flick).
A few glimpses of Wamiqa Gabbi and Keerthy Suresh are there, but not enough. That little girl might prove out to be a Trump card since the audience connects to such sentients very quickly. Jackie Shroff looks deadly. Moreover, we also have Salman Khan appearing in a special cameo role as Varun's senior officer, so it's going to be a complete mass treat this Xmas. I hope this one delivers fine entertainment, and then there will be no stopping at the ticket windows for at least two weeks.
