The actress, who represents herself as a UN goodwill ambassador, was present at the event where she made this statement."I'm white, I'm privileged, I'm middle class, and I think, you know, one can be accused of having a bit of a white savior complex, but to be perfectly honest, my interaction with the refugees in the field and also in resettled environments has totally changed my perspective on the world," she said.
After the statement went viral on the internet, netizens started trolling her. People started digging into her income, lifestyle, and net worth to slam her for the statement, which didn't go well with the numbers they found in public domain. Her net worth is approx. $95 million (INR 788 crore).
