publive-imageActor and comedian Chris Rock, who rocked the headlines during the 2022 Oscars ceremony, has reportedly declined the offer to host the 2023 Oscars ceremony. The actor, who was slapped by Will Smith on stage in front of celebrities and created waves across the globe, has decided to stay away from hosting the Oscars.

In March 2022, Chris Rock hosted the Academy Awards and joked about Will Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. In return, Will Smith walked on the stage and slapped Rock as he felt insulted by his joke. The matter became hot in the media and, later, Smith resigned from his Academy membership.

Apologising to Chris on a public platform, Will Smith wrote, "I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness."
