publive-imageChristopher Nolan has finally won the Golden Globes Award after waiting for almost 25 years. The master storyteller grabbed the Golden Globes trophy for the Best Director award for his critically acclaimed blockbuster, Oppenheimer, which topped the movie awards charts at this year's prestigious award ceremony.

While receiving the award, Christopher Nolan couldn't help recalling his dear friend, the late Heath Ledger, who had won the Golden Globes back in 2009. His performance in Nolan's The Dark Knight is hailed as one of the greatest villain acts ever. The film was released after Ledger's death, so it was Nolan who accepted the award on Heath's behalf.

"The only time I've ever been on this stage before was accepting one of these on behalf of our dear friend, Heath Ledger, and that was complicated and challenging for me," recalled Nolan.

"In the middle of speaking, I got all stuck, and Robert Downey Jr. caught my eye and gave me a look of love and support—the same look he's giving me now. I thought it’d be simpler to accept for myself, but, as I stand here, I realise I can only accept this on behalf of people," he continued.

He further said, "As directors, we bring people together, and we try to get them to give their best. Robert (Downey Jr.), Cillian (Murphy), my partner in crime of 20 years, Matt (Damon), Florence (Pugh), and Emily (Blunt)—the incredible work of our amazing crew."
