'Mi Marathi', one of the leading Marathi language channels in the country had hosted "Salaam Maharashtra", for completion of 50 years of Maharashtra's existence. For the first time in the history of Marathi Television, 'Mi Marathi' had launched the biggest ground event in suburban Mumbai.
The objective of the event "Salaam Maharashtra" was to honour and acknowledge the people of the soil for their excellence and celebrate the "Soul of Maharashtra", and create an awareness of Maharashtra's rich cultural heritage and firm traditional roots. Bharat Ratna, Lata Mangeshkar, Bollywood Star Dharmendra, Social Activist Dr. Prakash Amte and Dr.Mandatai Amte, scientist Dr.Raghunath Mashelkar, Governor Tripura and Padma Shri Dr.D.Y.Patil, renowned industrialist Late Shantanurao Kirloskar's, Kirloskar group were honoured at this event.
Politicians like Sushil Kumar Shinde and Kripashanker Singh also marked their presence to support Maharashtra's 50 years of existence.
