publive-imageNetflix's upcoming flick, Darlings, starring Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew, has dropped a quirky and dark trailer today. Alia Bhatt plays the main lead while the talented Shefali Shah plays her mother in the film. During a recent interview, Shefali revealed some fascinating details about her role and the film. Let's have a look:publive-imageTalking about why she accepted the role, Shefali Shah shared, "I always want to do something different and this was one such role. This isn't something that I have done before. The role is whacky."publive-imageWhen compared to Alia Bhatt's whacky role in Gully Boy, Shefali clarified, "I can't say it's the same (what Ali Bhatt did in Gully Boy), but yes, her solutions are very simple. If something is bothering you, finish it. But if you are comparing it with that (Alia in Gully Boy), then honestly, I can't comment on that."publive-imageDarlings focuses on feminine revenge, and this is really a new chance for our cinema. When asked if such films should be made often, the actress commented, "Not the same subject. But yes, the industry is changing. In the last few years, we have seen many films that are led by female actors. Talking about the larger picture, it won't change overnight. You know, it's been culture for years that the hero is God. Earlier, it was just about commercial cinema and art cinema. Commercial cinema meant hero, heroine, drama, masala and Art cinema was about experiments. But now it is changing slowly, and I am glad about it."publive-imageSpeaking about her experience of working with Alia Bhatt and how their chemistry worked despite the fact that she was more experienced than Alia, Shefali Shah quoted, "Well, you'll be surprised how experienced she is, and how good she is. When she knows, I don't. And what I know, she doesn't. We all made our own learning. It would be unfair on my part to think that I know it, I have so many years of experience, that's the end of your growth. You go on a set and you learn so many things from so many people, not just actors. Even the spot dada's behaviour makes a big difference. If you are receptive, you grasp it and you know how it works."

Darlings is produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt and Gaurav Verma, under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions, and marks the feature film debut for director Jasmeet K Reen. With an exceptionally versatile cast including Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew in lead roles, Darlings is a dark comedy entertainer brimming with secrets, mystery and drama. The film will be exclusively streaming on Netflix from August 5, 2022.
