One of the busiest Bollywood actresses in today's time, Taapsee Pannu, is busy promoting her upcoming film, Shabaash Mithu. The film is based on the life of the legendary Indian woman cricketer and former captain of the team, Mithali Raj. During a recent media interaction, Taapsee got candid about the film and her role. When asked how much Mithali Raj helped her for the training, Taapsee Pannu revealed, "Mithali was not available because she was an active player then. It was COVID time, so active players were either in a bubble (before the tournament) or playing on the field. She was playing in the World Cup and meeting her was not allowed inside the bubble. One of Mithali's best friends, Nushin, who has also played for India, trained me for the role of Mithali Raj."Recalling her childhood memories of Indian cricket and cricketers, Taapsee shared, "I have seen and loved many players at that time. From Jonty Rhodes to Sourav Ganguly, I have seen them all play. I knew all the players by names, even if they belonged to other teams. I had a big crush on Rahul Dravid. He looked so gentleman type."Talking about the response to the trailer, she said, "It’s extremely encouraging. People have been texting and calling me to tell me how much they liked the trailer. This is a film I really believe in, and I’m glad the trailer has hit a chord with the audience.""I am eagerly looking forward to the release of the film, to share this story of courage and resilience with everyone, and I hope it is showered with as much love and appreciation," she added her excitement ahead of the release.
Directed by national award winning director Srijit Mukherji and produced by Viacom18 Studios, Shabaash Mithu is set to go on field on July 15, 2022.
