publive-imageR. Balki's Chup has Shreya Dhanwanthary playing the leading lady opposite Dulquer Salmaan. The trailer has piqued the interest of movie lovers, especially thriller cinema lovers. People want to know more about it but will have to wait till September 23rd, when the film hits the cinema halls. But, before that, we had a conversation with a talented actress, Shreya Dhanwanthary, to learn more about the film.publive-imageAs we can see in the trailer, there is a romantic angle between Shreya and Dulquer's characters. Is it just romance or something more? Shreya Dhanwanthary did not reveal much but yet spoke a little about it. She said, "There is so much that you can't say about this film. When R. Balki Sir offered me Chup, he said that it's a psychological romantic thriller, and I said wow. These three words don't come together often. So I can't reveal much. But when you see the film on 23rd of September, you tell me what you think of it."publive-imageRevealing the story behind her casting process, Shreya shared, "I have this habit of writing love letters to everybody. I say, I like your work, I am a big fan and all that stuff. I wrote a letter to Balki Sir too. I wrote, 'whatever you think of, if there is a place for me then please.. I want to work with you.' He said, 'Yes. I have something for you. Come meet me on Monday. I didn't expect it to be so quick. I sent the message on Friday, and then I went to meet him on Monday. When I went there he said the same thing it's a psychological romantic thriller type film and he gave me the narration and he said if you wanted it is yours. I was standing there and I said, 'Yes I Want' (with a low voice). He said, It's yours."publive-imageShe continued, "I went out. I screamed out loud. I went home and then remembered that Balki Sir was seated with one of the writers there, and he said that either I wanted the new girl from Scam or I wanted the new girl from The Family Man. And the writer told him that it was the same girl. I said to myself, Oh that means I did a good job."publive-imageLike Shreya said, Chup is a romantic psychological thriller, three words that don't come together often. And then it has Guru Dutt's reference added to it. How does this fit together? She explained, "If you are talking about art and criticism, the connection between these two, then the biggest example is Mr. Guru Dutt. Kaagaz Ke Phool is now considered a classic, but then it was a big flop. They destroyed it, not normally, but they totally destroyed it. He never directed a film again after that, and he passed away. It's very tragic that he never got to see the fact that his film is a classic now."
