publive-imageIndian filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is coming up with an Indo-Chinese production, Ladki. It is India's first martial arts film and features martial artist Pooja Bhalekar in the lead role. The film will be released in China on over 40,000 screens, making it the biggest Indian release ever in the country. In a recent interaction with us, RGV shared some interesting details about the film.

Talking about female body exposure in his films, RGV made quite a hard-hitting statement. He said, "If you have an attractive body, then you should show it. If male actors like John Abraham, Vidyut Jammwal, and Tiger Shroff are waiting to show their bodies on screen, then I think it would be a double standard if you say a woman should not do that."

RGV has been tweeting about Taapse Pannu's Shabaash Mithu and his film Ladki. Revealing the reasons behind it, he shared, "The comparison is because both the films are woman-centric. Cricket and martial arts are both male-oriented things, and these films make them woman-oriented. And both the films are coming on the same day. Personally I like martial arts more than cricket. That's why I tweeted it."publive-imageMost of RGV's films have shown heroines playing a strong part. That's not what other directors usually do. RGV shared his idea of it, saying, "I portray stronger women in my films because I want people to look up to them. Regularly, the cuteness attracts the audience, but you don't look up to them. Whether it was Urmila in Rangeela or Aishwarya in Sarkar Raj, they played strong women. With Pooja, I have done the same thing in Ladki."publive-imageLadki is releasing in more than 40,000 screens in China, which is the biggest for any Indian film. Commenting on the same, RGV told Movie Talkies, "Chinese people have seen big martial arts legends, be it Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan. It's their home. But they have never seen any Indian woman doing the same action sequences as Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. That's something new for them, and that's what I intend to do with Ladki. With Chinese production, we managed to get a huge number of screens and that's really good."publive-imageDirected by Ram Gopal Varma, Ladki is produced by Artsee Media. The action drama features Pooja Bhalekar in the lead role along with Parth Suri, Rajpal Yadav and Abhimanyu Singh. Ladki will be released worldwide on 15th July 2022.
