publive-imageOne of the most important aspects of the Ek Villain franchise is its music. The musical duo of Kaushik & Guddu, who have earlier composed music for Sooryavanshi, Badhaai Ho, Loveyatri, Behen Hogi Teri, Bhangra Paa Le, and Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, have composed songs for Ek Villain Returns. After the release of the romantic song, Dil, we caught the duo in an exclusive chat. Read the comments below:

Question : Dil is an intimate, romantic song, but it also has some evil vibes when we look at the last portion of the video song. Was that intentional as the film takes a U-turn from a glamorous love story to a devilish thriller?

Kaushik & Guddu : The song is full of twists. It has romance, sadness, and that villain vibe. It's dark too. It has everything. We maintained every emotion just the way Mohit Sir had briefed us. Since it was picturized on four actors, we had to be in sync with their onscreen sentiments.

Question : Did you imagine the faces of stars or did that put extra pressure while composing the song because the film has four popular actors together and they all feature in this song?

Kaushik & Guddu : Honestly, when we received the brief, we had no idea who the actors were going to be or even the film. Mohit Sir is someone who never reveals the details about the film and the star cast while sharing song briefs. He just mentioned that I want a song that is soulful, emotional, and something that people will connect with. We made the music accordingly. Later, we were very happy when we found out that the song was composed for Ek Villain 2. But yes, there was pressure since we knew there would be a comparison with the previous album. Sir had also mentioned that he wanted the song to be dynamic and grand, so we took a lot of time to work on that part. He would keep on checking with us now and then whether we had completed the song. Our entire team worked hard on this song - Prasad Sashte, DJ Phukan, Zafar, Guddu and me, and music players Aditya, Shankar and Raj. They are the best people we have worked with and we spent a lot of time with them. We also worked with the Bangkok Strings, which took 5–6 days to set up. Overall, the entire team worked hard, and it was fun throughout. We are happy that both Sir, and the audience liked it.publive-imageQuestion : How do you look at this change happening in the music industry as multiple composers are being assigned to one film?

Kaushik & Guddu : We find it very challenging and competitive at the same time. Since multiple music directors are coming together for one project, every composer has a different song, so it adds a lot of flavour and an entirely new horizon to the industry. Yes. We are enjoying it, but at the same time, we are looking to work on a solo project as well.publive-imageQuestion : Tell us something about your future project and what kind of themes you would want to explore with your upcoming projects?

Kaushik & Guddu : Many songs are lined up which you will gradually come to know. We have always been experimenting with various genres and do not want to stick to the work we have done in the past. So, you will get to hear the various ranges of music from us.
