After getting nominated at the Oscars, several times, over the past two decades, Leonardo DiCaprio has finally bagged the coveted Academy Award this year, for his performance in The Revenant.
Leonardo received a standing ovation from the crowd, when he picked up the Best Actor trophy. Directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu, The Revenant is based on Michael Punke's eponymous novel, inspired by the experiences of frontiersman Hugh Glass in 1823, in what is now Montana and South Dakota. The film also stars Tom Hardy.
Iñárritu received the Best Director award for the movie. The film also bagged the prize in the Best Cinematography category.
