publive-imageAfter a superflop with Scream 6, Paramount India has another flop this week with Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. While other Hollywood studios are growing in India, Paramount is going down, and one of the major reasons is their disastrous Media PR, handled by a Viacom18 subsidiary.

As you know, Marvel Studios is getting bigger and bigger in India, and recently 20th Century Fox had tremendous success with Avatar: The Way of Water (both are with the same PR). One of the major reasons behind the success is PR's good work and wider reach. Paramount India is lagging behind with the same, and their media reach and audience reach are far too small. The public's awareness of Scream 6 and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was nothing short of ZERO. Forget public awareness; even the majority of the media isn't aware of the film's release—all thanks to their terrible PR.

Being a media person, I know the steps of how to approach a PR, and the same approach has worked with every major Hollywood brand, even while some of them are too strict and remote. However, the experience with Paramount India, aka Viacom 18, was terrible. No wonder their films are released with almost no awareness and sell away from ticket windows without anyone even noticing it.

With other brands getting better with good PR and marketing work, Paramount India definitely needs to do better to keep up their name in the market. With such an irresponsible PR team, I'm afraid they will have any success in the market and at the box office. Hopefully, things will change in the future and they will get better and more responsible with their marketing and PR teams.
