Leonardo DiCaprio finally broke the Oscar jinx this year by winning his first Academy Award for his performance in the much-acclaimed film The Revenant. Leo had earlier received five nominations for the Academy Awards but he never succeeded in winning the trophy.
Here's a list of films, which failed to get him the coveted award:
What's Eating Gilbert Grape: Leonardo first got nominated for his performance in 1993 American drama What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Leo played Arnie, a man with developmental disability in the movie and he got nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category at the Academy Awards 1994. He lost the trophy to Tommy Lee Jones, who played US Marshal Samuel Gerard in The Fugitive.
The Aviator: Leonardo got nominated again at Oscars 2005, this time in the Best Actor category for his role in 2004 biographical drama The Aviator. Leo played the role of Howard Hughes, an aviation pioneer and director of Hell's Angels in the much-acclaimed film. However, Jamie Foxx walked away with the trophy for his role in Ray.
Blood Diamond: The megastar received the Oscar nomination for Best Actor once again, in 2007, for his role in political war thriller Blood Diamond. DiCaprio lost the award to Forest Whitaker, who won hearts with his performance in The Last King Of Scotland.
The Wolf Of Wall Street: The acting powerhouse played Jordan Belfort in biographical black comedy The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013). He not only got nominated in the Best Actor category, at Oscars 2014, but the film, which was produced by him, also got nominated in the Best Picture category. Though it could have been a double whammy for the actor, he missed it by whiskers again. While Brad Pitt starrer 12 Years A Slave won the Best Picture Award, Matthew McConaughey took home the Best Actor trophy.
