Gladiator 2 Flop in India:
Ridley Scott's sequel to Gladiator, Gladiator 2, was released in Indian cinemas last Friday, November 15, 2024, and has seen a bad response at the ticket windows. The second part of Gladiator has also met with average to mixed responses from critics, and the weekdays trending suggests that the word of mouth was bad too.
Gladiator 2 marks another Hollywood flop for Viacom18 Studios and Paramount Pictures in India. It seems that the studio's struggle for a HIT movie at the Indian box office isn't ending anytime soon.
Gladiator 2 opened with Rs. 1.50-1.60 crore nett on Friday, followed by an ordinary jump in numbers on Saturday and Sunday. The second day's figures were at Rs. 2.15 crore nett approx., and the third day's total was around Rs. 2 crore nett, which was a drop from the second day. The opening weekend numbers of the film were in the range of Rs. 5.75-6 crore nett.

The Gladiator saga dropped heavily on weekdays as Monday figures came down to Rs. 50 lacs. The film added Rs. 1.70 crore nett in the next days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), taking its first week total to Rs. 8 crore nett approx. There is nothing much left for the film in the second week, despite no competition, but it will add a few crores here and there and hit the double-digit mark in the worst case. That seals its verdict as a pure "DISASTER."
Gladiator 2 has now joined the long disaster club of Viacom and Paramount, which includes back-to-back box office failures like IF (2024), Bob Marley (2024), Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie (2023), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023), Transformers 7 (2023), Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves (2023), Scream VI (2023), Sonic 2 (2022), The Lost City (2022), Scream (2022), and a below-average grosser, Top Gun: Maverick (2022).
