publive-imageBollywood actress Kajol is gearing up for her next film, Salaam Venky, which is set to knock at the box office window on December 9, 2022. The actress plays a mother named Sujata in Revathy's directorial emotional drama, while Vishal Jethwa plays her son. During a recent media interaction, Kajol expressed her views on the film and her character.publive-imageThrowing light on her character, Sujata, Kajol shared, "My character in the film is very real. Sujata is simply a strong woman. Revathi Ma'm made me understand it very simply by saying that sometimes the simplest people are the strongest. That was the best quality of Sujata. She did what she felt like doing; she didn't think about the difficulties around her. She saw her goal very clearly. There is an amazing simplicity about her. I have tried my best to keep it as simple as possible. Now let's see how she likes the film, and then I'll get to know whether I have passed or failed."publive-imageThe character has taught her some good lessons that she will cherish for a lifetime. Kajol revealed, "My takeaway from the character is that you shouldn't let your fears affect your children, and they should not stop dreaming because of that. Their lives should never stop because of my fear. That's the biggest lesson I took from Sujata's character in Salaam Venky."publive-imageKajol seems to be doing characters of a certain age nowadays, but that's not a planned thing. Kajol confidently answered, "It's not like I want to do such kinds of roles. I am open to everything. All I need is a good script and a good role. Such good scripts come very rarely. And as you know, I am very picky. I am a reader too. So if I feel like the script does not excite me, then I am like, let's not do it. That's the only reason; it's not a pre-planned decision to pick such roles and such films. I'd like to do comedy, I am a very funny person."publive-imageSalaam Venky is directed by Revathy, a female director. Does that make Kajol more comfortable? She replied, "I would say not. I don't think I can give someone something considering the gender. Revathy Ma'am's gender never mattered, but she is an amazing woman. When I think about her life, her personal and professional decisions, and when I look at her overall life, there is huge respect inside me because I think some of the decisions she made in her life are very very Brave."
