Hollywood filmmaker James Cameron has created a new record that no other director has in the world of cinema. Cameron now holds the record of 3 back-to-back $1.5 billion grossers at the global box office.
Jim's latest magnum opus, Avatar: The Way of Water, will sail past the $1.5 billion mark today. The film will also surpass Tom Cruise's blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick ($1.488 billion) to become the highest-grossing Hollywood film of the year at the worldwide box office.
Cameron is now the only filmmaker on earth to make a hat-trick of $1.5 billion grossers. Additionally, he will soon become the only director with three $2 billion grossers, that too back-to-back 3 films. His previous two films have been record grossers - Avatar (2009) - $2.92 billion (still unbroken), and Titanic (1997) - $2.201 billion (3rd biggest grosser in history).
