publive-imageJames Cameron has given 13 years to Avatar 2 after making Avatar in 2009. The sequel to the blockbuster is titled Avatar: The Way Of Water, and it is set to be released in theatres on Christmas 2022, while the predecessor was released on Christmas 2009. The director has already announced four sequels to Avatar, but will he be directing all of them?

publive-imageIn a recent interaction with Empire magazine, James Cameron hinted that he may not want to direct Avatar 3 and Avatar 4. He said, "The Avatar films themselves are kind of all-consuming. I've got some other things I'm developing as well that are exciting. I think eventually over time - I don't know if that's after three or after four - I'll want to pass the baton to a director that I trust to take over, so I can go do some other stuff that I'm also interested in. Or maybe not. I don't know."publive-imageBefore making Avatar 2, Cameron had taken 12 years to make Avatar (2009) as well. He did not direct any films after Titanic (1997) for 12 years. Hence, the box office records of Titanic remained unbeaten for 12 years. His last film, Avatar (2009), still holds the rank of #1 grosser at the worldwide box office, which may be challenged by Avatar 2 this December.publive-imageThe four sequels to Avatar are scheduled to be released in 2023, 2024, 2026, and 2028, respectively. The second film in the franchise is ready for release in 2022, after 13 years since the first film. Avatar: The Way Of Water will feature Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi and Kate Winslet in the main cast.
