Jaya Prada, a Bollywood actress and a former MP, has been declared "absconding" (faraar) by the court. A special court had to take this decision after she failed to appear for hearings in two cases against her.
Jaya Prada has two cases on her name pertaining to violations of the election code of conduct during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. She was a candidate for the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP).
The special court had already issued seven non-bailable warrants against her, yet she did not appear before the court. Her constant ignorant behaviour led the MP MLA special court to take strict action against her.
As per a report in India Today, the MP MLA special court, presided over by Shobhit Bansal, has directed the Superintendent of Police to form a special team under a Deputy SP's leadership to ensure her presence in court by March 6.
