publive-imageHollywood actor and director Johnny Depp is set to return to the director's chair with the upcoming biopic titled Modi. The film will be based on the life of an Italian artist, Amedeo Modigliani, popularly known as Modi. This will be Depp's second directorial effort after The Brave (1997).

Modi will star Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio in the lead role of Amedeo Modigliani, while Al Pacino will be seen playing an art collector named Maurice Gangnat. French actor Pierre Niney is to play fellow artist Maurice Utrillo in this cinematic adaptation of Dennis McIntyre's play.

Amedeo Clemente Modigliani was an Italian painter and sculptor from France. He is known for portraits and nudes in a modern style characterised by a surreal elongation of faces, necks, and figures that were slammed by audiences and critics. However, the same pieces were later hailed for their creativity.
