Innocent, a popular Malayalam actor and politician, passed away at the age of 75. He has been battling cancer for the last few years and was admitted to the hospital recently for breathing issues. On Sunday evening, he took his last breath at VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi.Innocent predominantly worked in Malayalam films and has left a mark as a legendary comedian. Besides Malayalam, he also worked in Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and English films—all mostly in comedic roles. In a career spanning more than five decades, he acted in more than 750 films. He was active in politics too, winning the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from the Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency as an independent candidate supported by the Left Democratic Front (LDF).
Innocent entered the film industry in 1972 with the movie Nrityashala. He played comedy roles in popular Malayalam comedies like Nadodikattu, Ramji Rao Speaking, Mannar Mathai Speaking, Kilukkam, Godfather, Vietnam Colony, Manichitrathazhu, and Kalyanaraman. May God rest his soul in peace.
