Legendary Writer Kahlil Gibran Finds A New Admirer In The Gorgeous Salma Hayek

publive-imageSalma Hayek - the Lebanese-Mexican actress in a recent press conference was all praises for legendary artist, poet, and writer - Kahlil Gibran, on whose book 'The Prophet', her first produced animated feature is based on.

'The Prophet', which is based on the book written in 1923 tells the story of Almitra, a young girl who finds the voice she lost through her friendship with Mustafa, a poet imprisoned for his ideas. Salma provides the voice of the girl’s mother, Kamila.

At the press conference, she emphasized "the importance of this film, especially its human and artistic value" in the presence of movie director, Roger Allers, musician, Gabriel Yared, distributor, Mohammad Fathallah, chairman of Gibran National Committee, Tarek Chandab, and a crowd of reporters.

The actress expressed great joy for being in Lebanon, saying that she has never seen anything as beautiful as the natural sites of Byblos and Gibran Museum.

"The animated film is a message to the new generation, which pressingly needs values and human principles. Despite the fact that Gibran Khalil Gibran is a Lebanese poet and artist, but his works are published all over the world," she said.

Hayek added that "the goal of this film is to show that the Lebanese are capable of spreading the love, peace, and culture in the world," assuring that "the life of Gibran is in itself a lesson which People need to be inspired from."

"The production of this film is an adventure and a message of unity for the new generation," she said, reiterating her pride of her Lebanese origins and culture.

The launch of the animated film "The Prophet" is scheduled on Monday at 17:00 at Beirut Souks cinemas.
