Maidaan, starring Ajay Devgn, received good reviews all over but couldn't translate the positivity into box office numbers. However, the film initially held better than Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which was a much bigger film.BMCM took over Maidaan on the opening day and opening weekend itself to go ahead with higher numbers, which is almost impossible for Maidaan now. Yet Maidaan has shown some fighting spirit by surpassing BMCM numbers on the second Friday.
The Ajay Devgn starrer collected 1.50 crore nett on the second Friday, which was a minor jump over Thursday collections (1.25 crore). But it was bigger than Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which made approx. 1.30 crore nett on the second Friday. This hardly makes any difference in the film's verdict, but it shows that the better content can fight back even after the first week. Maidaan's economics were too high for these numbers, though.Below are the collections of Maidaan:
First Week - 27.35 crore
Second Thursday - 1.50 crore
Second Friday - 28.85 crore nett approx.
