EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW : "Major Happened Organically, And I Am So Glad That It Did" - Saiee Manjrekar

Saiee M. Manjrekar is enjoying the success of her latest release, Major. The actress played the character of Isha, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's girlfriend and wife in the film. The film has crossed 50 crores at the worldwide box office and we got the actress in an exclusive conversation to celebrate the Major Success!

Beginning with the feedback she has been receiving for Major, Saiee told us, "I have gotten great comments. I am really happy with the kind of response I have got and the movie Major is getting. We wanted people to love the major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's story and that's exactly what has happened."

Talking about the character and references, she said, "For me, the references and knowledge about the character came from Adivi Sesh and Sashi Kiran Sir because they have done a lot of research. They wanted to keep some things private, so a lot of things came from writing. I kind of just followed what their vision was."

How important was Major to her in the early stages of her career? Saiee answered, "I think it was very important and it was amazing that I got to do it because there is such a big graph in this character. You really get to see a person doing a 16-year-old role and a 28-year-old role in the same movie. I think the journey of her life taught me a lot as an actor and as a person because I got to do so many different things in one movie itself."

We all know that biographical films are pushing boundaries for female stars as they get to play strong characters alongside the male lead. In Shershaah it was Kiara Advani, and now in Major it is Saiee. Sharing her views on this, Saiee quoted, "It brings a lot of soul to the movie because it shows you insights into the brave hearts, that they also had a girlfriend, a wife, parents, and a normal life. It kind of humanises them."

Saiee has done an out-and-out mass film like Dabangg 3 and now a content-driven film like Major. What did she enjoy the most? Saiee Manjarekar opened up, "I think both have their places. I feel like I enjoyed it differently on both. On Dabangg 3, I did what I used to dream of doing when I was growing up. With Major, I learned so much throughout the process, so both the films are like completely different but both amazing."

Superstars like Salman Khan and Allu Arjun have praised the film Major and Saiee seems delighted about it. She shared, "I was very very glad. First of all, it was very kind of Salman sir to come out and launch our teaser and trailer. He is a big-hearted person. He did it for us, and he did it because he believed in our story, and I think that was really great of him. Allu Arjun sir, is like, I have always been a fan of. Him seeing the film was like ecstatic, I was so happy."

Opening up about the casting process, the Major actress revealed, "Shashi Sir and Sesh saw me in a song from Dabangg 3 and told me that this is exactly the kind of person we need for the role in Major. I heard the script, and organically it just happened, and I am so glad that it did."
