Filmmaker Martin Scorsese's upcoming western crime drama, Killers of the Flower Moon, will not release in 2022. The film has been postponed to 2023 and will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2023. As per the report in Deadline, Martin Scorsese wants to premiere the film at Cannes before it is available to the audience.Based on the best-selling 2017 non-fiction book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Grann, the film follows the series of 1920s Oklahoma murders in the Osage Nation, committed after oil was discovered on tribal land. The on-screen adaptation is done by Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese.Killers of the Flower Moon stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Ernest Burkhart, Robert De Niro as William Hale, Jesse Plemons as Tom White and Lily Gladstone in the role of Mollie Burkhart. Produced on a budget of $200 million by Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions, Appian Way Productions and Apple Studios, it is the said to be the most expensive movie filmed in Oklahoma.
