Merry Christmas has opened with 2.10 crore nett approx. on Friday. This is the first proper Bollywood release of 2024, and things aren't looking great. It is also about the genre and appeal, which have become more important after the pandemic.The business of Merry Christmas is driven by multiplex, and very much of it comes from the evening shows. The film is highly dependent on word of mouth since its commercial appeal is lower. The Saturday and Sunday jumps are a must for the film.On the other hand, Telugu-to-Hindi-dubbed Hanu Man is competing with this original Hindi film, coming out of nowhere. Hanu Man has also done a similar business of 2.05 crore nett on the first day, with a better trending in mass pockets. This clash will be a tough battle, for sure.
