publive-imageMichael Caine, a popular British actor known as a British icon, has announced his retirement from acting. The legendary actor has acted in over 160 movies over the course of eight decades of his illustrious career. We, at movie talkies, wish him a great second innings, and we will miss him.

Michael Caine's final movie is The Great Escaper (2023), which had its world premiere in London in September 2023. Sir Caine played the role of British World War II Royal Navy veteran Bernard Jordan in this biographical drama.

In an interview with BBC Radio, Caine confirmed his retirement, saying, “I keep saying I’m going to retire. Well, I am now. I’ve figured, I’ve had a picture where I’ve played the lead and it’s got incredible reviews."

"The only parts I'm liable to get now are 90-year-old men. Or maybe 85. So I thought, I might as well leave with all this. I've got wonderful reviews. What am I going to do to beat this? We (director Oliver Parker) had a great time in the movie, and I thought, why not leave now?" He added.

"You don’t have leading men at 90, you’re going to have young handsome boys and girls," he concluded.
