Walt Disney's latest animated picture, Moana 2, has taken a fantastic start at the domestic box office, and even overseas figures are coming in well. Moana 2 is sailing high at the box office, as it recorded the highest Thanksgiving Day figures at the US box office.

Moana 2 shattered the Thanksgiving Day record of Frozen 2 by bringing in a new record number with a $28 million gross on day two. Before that, the film scored a huge opening day with a $57 million gross, including previews, and this takes the domestic haul to $85.5 million in two days. The animated sequel is looking to cross the $175 million mark over the extended weekend, surpassing Frozen 2's $125 million by a huge margin.

The Thanksgiving holiday doesn't help overseas, but the film is still flowing with high speed. Moana's tale is becoming a favorite in international markets as the film has a solid start of $24 million+ on the opening day. The worldwide haul for this Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson starrer stands at close to $110 million, and the studio and trade are expecting a whopping $300 million-plus opening weekend for the film.
