Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother, Heeraben Modi, passed away early in the morning. She was admitted to the hospital in Ahmedabad for a checkup and to treat health complications. PM Modi flew down to Ahmedabad for the last rites and gave his mother an emotional farewell. PM Modi tweeted:
