Rajneeti, Prakash Jha's modern-day cinematic adaptation of the Hindu epic Mahabharata, starring Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee, Sarah Thompson, and Naseeruddin Shah, was a box office smash. It has been claimed as one of the best political thrillers in Bollywood, and now there are chances of the sequel to it.

Prakash Jha recently opened up about a sequel to Raajneeti, Raajneeti 2. He is currently working on the script and intends to continue the story where he left it in the first part. As many would ask, he also has plans for Ranbir's character in the film, Samar, who has gone abroad.

"The second part is intended to be an extension of the first movie. Though Samar Pratap (Ranbir Kapoor’s character) has gone abroad, he is there in this story. The story’s structure has been worked out," Prakash Jha told the Mid-Day during a conversation.

About repeating the cast, he said, "I cannot say anything about repeating the cast,” Jha admits candidly. “There are few [compelling] actors, and they are managed by talent agencies. The actors cannot make the decisions themselves. A decade ago, we could just meet the actor, narrate the story, and convince them to make a decision. Today, you cannot. Actors don’t read the scripts; their assistants and managers do. You have to go through three levels of management to reach the stars.”
