As per a report in a publication, during his school days in Gwalior, Salman and his friends had planned a trip to Dehradun and while roaming around and, the group drank multiple glasses of jaljeera paani, following which, they had to search for a toilet. It seems that Salman ran into a girl outside the public toilet and was immediately smitten by her. Salman returned to Gwalior, but could not get the girl out of his head, and they kept in touch by writing letters to each other for almost a year. Salman revealed that he put an end to it when he realised that she had brotherly feelings towards him, which broke his heart.
