Shah Rukh Khan Akshay KumarShah Rukh Khan had a dream year in 2023 with Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. It's been a long time since the superstar had three big releases in a year, and thanks to the pandemic for making it happen. SRK has set a new record for the highest aggregate nett gross in a single year, surpassing the previous record by a HUGE margin.

Shah Rukh Khan began 2023 with a bang as Pathaan broke many box office records in India and overseas. The film raked in 512 crore nett in India and became the first Bollywood movie to cross 400 crore and 500 crore nett in India. The superstar allowed himself to repeat the same feat with his next pan-India flick, Jawan. The SRK starrer broke almost all records set by Pathaan and became the first Bollywood movie to cross 550 crore nett in Hindi market and 600 crore in all languages.publive-imageAfter back-to-back record-breaking hits, fans and trade had similar expectations from Dunki, which was released during the Christmas weekend. However, the much-awaited collaboration between SRK and Hirani couldn't deliver enough. Dunki will be looking to finish its run with a total of around 210–215 crore nett.

The combined total of three Shah Rukh Khan movies will be around 1280–1290 crore nett (we were expecting this to be around 1500 crore, honestly) in India (Hindi). This is a new record, overtaking Akshay Kumar's 745 crore nett by a huge margin, which he achieved in 2019 with Kesari, Mission Mangal, Housefull 4 and Good Newwz. Now, who will break this record? Will Akshay do it again?

To break such a gigantic record, you need at least 3 big releases in a year that are capable of bringing in some big numbers. That's said the least, but to be more practical, you need at least 4 or 5 big releases in a year to go past those numbers. That's why this record is very tough for all Bollywood actors.

But if there is anyone who has an outside chance to challenge or even go close to this record, then it has to be Akshay Kumar. He got that much quantity to offer. His frequency is far higher than others, and that's what gives him an edge over other stars when we talk about the highest aggregate nett gross in a single year.

Akshay Kumar has Bade Miyan Chote Miyan on Eid, Skyforce in October, and Welcome 3 on Christmas in 2024 (not including his cameo in Singham Again). He might fit in another flick somewhere in the second half of 2024 if he wishes to unload some more from his kitty. There are high chances of BMCM and Welcome 3 scoring big numbers since both are big event movies and also have festival releases. But to break SRK's record and get 1300 crore nett in a single year, one has to average around 325 crore nett per film (with 4 releases). Now, that's a HUGE TASK! Hushhh...publive-imageSince Akshay held these records in 2012 and 2019, it's obvious to count him in, or the first, when we discuss this record. With Hera Pheri 3 coming in the same year, this record would have looked more possible, but with this line-up, it's really tough—almost impossible. Unless, of course, those movies do some insane business and exceed all expectations. Let's wait and watch, but honestly, it seems like SRK is going to hold that crown for some years now, as superstars are not very keen on multiple releases in a year.
