Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, which was released in September 2023, went on to break multiple box office records. The film broke the opening-day record of Pathaan, followed by the opening-weekend record of the same film. It doesn't seem like any Bollywood film will be able to break Jawan's records in 2023.Tiger 3's opening day was lower than Jawan, and it will not reach the highest single-day record of Jawan (70.5 crore) as Diwali holidays are divided. Tiger 3 will also not be able to beat Jawan's opening weekend numbers - 175 crore nett. Tiger 3 was probably the last wide and solo release of 2023, and since it couldn't overtake Jawan, we can say no other film will.
In the upcoming slot, there are two films that look big, but are they capable of beating Jawan's numbers? Let's have a look. So, the first one is Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna. The film is coming on 1st December and is clashing with Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur. The clash makes it difficult for the film, and the genre is also non-favourite for family audiences. So fairly enough, this one is out of competition. The second one is Dunki. The first ever collaboration between SRK and Rajkumar Hirani is perhaps the most exciting collaboration in recent times. With SRK coming after back-to-back record-breaking hits and Hirani having a 100% track record of content and box office in his career, Dunki would be the most favourite bet for a blockbuster bizz, even for a blind man. When everything was looking high, the announcement of Salaar releasing in the same week/same day shattered many dreams.
This is a big clash, and Dunki will have to perform beyond its capacity to beat Jawan's opening numbers. Reportedly, Dunki is coming a day before, on 21st December, and if it gets a solo release for one day, it might be able to challenge Jawan's figures. But is it really possible for a non-action film? The bar is set too high by Jawan, and other Bollywood movies aren't even coming close to it. That's why Dunki's opening numbers may not be able to come close either. But in the lifetime run, it can be on track since Hirani movies have always found a long run. Lastly, as we know, the box office is unpredictable, so we never know what will happen. Some sure-shot assumptions have failed before; why not again?
