Shaitaan Opens Well; Neck-to-Neck with Drishyam 2's Numbers

Shaitaan box office: Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala's supernatural thriller, Shaitaan, has turned the tide of black magic at the box office. Vikas Bahl's directorial has opened to very good occupancy all over, despite B and C centres performing considerably low.Shaitaan is looking at an opening day figure of 14-15 crore nett, depending on the night shows. The film saw good occupancy all over in multiplexes, while single screens registered a decent occupancy in the post-evening shows. The 14 crore nett figure looks certain, but there is a high chance of 15 crore nett too.

This takes the film in Drishyam 2's zone, which opened to 15 crore on a non-holiday. Shaitaan got a 20% boost in numbers by Mahashivratri, but that will reflect on limited growth on Saturday, which wasn't the case with Drishyam 2. Nevertheless, the film has scored well on day one considering the fact that it belonged to the non-action and non-masala genres, which seemed to be the only crowd-pulling genres in post-pandemic times.
