Actress Shweta Prasad Basu, who was wrongly quoted by a newspaper as saying that she was forced to turn to prostitution due to a failing career, has now planned to seek legal action against the concerned newspaper and journalist for falsification of news.

Basu, who was recently released from a remand home in Hyderabad, said that she had never made such a statement and added that it was not possible for her to make such a statement when she was not even allowed to talk to her parents after being taken into custody. The Makdee actress added that the media should have waited for her to come out of custody and make a statement before making such false allegations.

The actress was arrested from a hotel in Hyderabad and at the time, it was reported that she was caught red-handed with a few well known business tycoons. Soon after her arrest, she was sent to a remand home where she stayed for two months.

Basu had wowed everyone in her role as Shreyas Talpade's sister in the much-acclaimed Iqbal.
