publive-imageFilmmaker Spike Lee recently declared that he would not watch Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Western Django Unchained as it is insulting to his ancestors, who were slaves from Africa.

Django Unchained is the story of a slave, played by Jamie Foxx, who gets rescued by a bounty hunter for his own objectives. The film also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, who will be seen playing the role of an antagonist in the film.

Taking to Twitter, Lee wrote, “American slavery was not a Sergio Leone spaghetti western. It was a holocaust. My ancestors are slaves. Stolen from Africa. I will honour them.”
