publive-imageThe biggest Bollywood hit of 2022, The Kashmir Files, has been shortlisted for the Oscars 2023 in the first list category. The other four Indian films in the list are RRR, Kantara, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Amongst all these, The Kashmir Files faced a lot of controversy—positive and negative, both. But now it seems that the international juries are taking note of it.

Announcing the news, director Vivek Agnihotri tweeted, "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: #TheKashmirFiles has been shortlisted for #Oscars2023 in the first list of @TheAcademy. It’s one of the 5 films from India. I wish all of them very best. A great year for Indian cinema. #PallaviJoshi #MithunChakraborty @DarshanKumaar @AnupamPKher are all shortlisted for best actor categories. It’s just the beginning. A long long road ahead. Pl bless them all."publive-imageRecently, The Kashmir Files faced a bashing from IFFI's head jury, Nadav Lapid, who called it a propaganda film. Well, Vivek Agnihotri hasn't forgotten yet. He said, "I am glad that the Kashmir files has been shortlisted for the oscars 2023. Although I am out of this award race, this recognition on an international level is surely a tight slap to all the people who called it Propaganda. I am happy that now the world is recognising the Kashmiri Hindu Genocide. It is a step further in our mission."
