Akshay Kumar's Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn's Thank God were released in cinemas on 25th October 2022. The opening day figures of Ram Setu were 15 crore nett, while Thank God collected 8 crore nett on the first day. The combined total of these two films has failed to cross the opening of Sooryavanshi, which also starred Akshay Kumar in the lead and Ajay Devgn in a special cameo.Sooryavanshi was released on Diwali last year with 50% occupancy restrictions in Maharashtra, which is the biggest market for Hindi movies in India. Yet, the film scored a huge opening of 26 crore nett on the first day and brought Bollywood back into the game post-pandemic.
The combined total of Ram Setu and Thank God makes around 23 crore nett with 100% occupancy all over, compared to 50% of Sooryavanshi in Maharashtra. Interestingly, the most popular faces in these two films were seen together in Sooryavanshi.It clearly indicates that a big event film like Sooryavanshi with a successful director like Rohit Shetty weighs more than the combined myth of two superstars. As per the trends, it seems that the combined lifetime total of Ram Setu and Thank God will fall short of the 195 crore nett of Sooryavanshi.
